Life and Death in the Pyramid Age featuring The Emory Old King Mummy is at the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University. This unique mummy and much, much more is on display until December 11, 2011. This display features items from all throughout time and an emphasis on the Pyramid Age. It was absolutely fascinating and the 4,000 year old recently restored Old Kingdom Mummy is worth the price of admission all by himself! Go to www.carlos.emory.edu for admission prices and hours of operation.

Yes, that was a hot air balloon in front of the school on Friday. It was for this weekend's Hot Air Balloon Rally, presented by Cronic Chevrolet that featured many beautiful hot air balloons that participated in competition flights and the Ferrell Gas “balloon glow” after dark. The fun continues this Saturday with a celebration of outdoor recreation at The Rock Ranch. Guests will have a chance to participate in canoe races, archery shooting (bows provided), zip line games and scavenger hunts. There will be professional chainsaw carving demonstrations throughout the day and a special treat of live music. The evening will feature a concert by rising star Jamie Grace Harper. Jamie, signed under Toby Mac’s Gotee Records, will perform a concert featuring hit song “Hold Me.” http://therockranch.com/Jamie-Grace-Concert.html.

| The John Hollis Memorial Boys & Girls Club of Pike County 5K Fun Run, 1 Mile Walk & Tot Trot was held on Saturday, October 15, 2011. There was so much help from volunteers that I didn't get everyone as I was taking pictures. Sherri, Gene, Elaine, and others who helped out but aren't shown here did a lot behind the scenes. I love living in Pike County because people come out to rally for a great cause and to honor John Hollis. He would have been proud!
