Pike Post 197 American Legion to Host Zebulon 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk Benefiting Youth Programs - September 26

ZEBULON - On 26 September 2020, the Pike County American Legion Post 197 will conduct its 11th 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk in the city of Zebulon. Address for the event is the Pike County American Legion Post 197, 645 Meansville St, Zebulon, GA 30295. The Run/Walk start window is 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. Recommend arriving early in the window to beat the heat. The proceeds benefit the community and Veteran programs which include assisting and honoring Veterans and their families, and community patriotic programs.

There will be no late fee for new registrations. All who register early or late, the fee will be $25. Should a cancellation occur, all those who have registered will receive their T-shirt. Therefore, it is important that your registration information is accurate with address, email, and phone number.

5K and 10K routes are generally flat. There are paved roads, mowed grass pathways, open and wooded trails, and old railroad beds converted to trails; and some small hills.

The event will be operating under the COVID-19 pandemic safety and medical guidance. All activities will be outside except for rest room use. Group/family and individual participants will be limited within the marked registration area. Individuals or a representative of each family or group will enter the registration area one at a time to register or check in. Six foot social distancing and face masks will be worn by the event staff and the person entering the registration area. Pre-registered Run/Walk packets and T-shirts will be given to individuals, or the family or group representative. Once families, groups, and individuals begin the courses, face masks are optional. Unlike the past, there will be no rest area check-in card. Simply state your name to the rest area Volunteer for accountability, hydrate, and continue on the course. We apologize for the inconvenience and request your understanding that these safety precautions are for everyone’s protection while at the same time taking the opportunity to conduct this by-nature fun and healthy event.

We thank everyone for your patience and understanding. It is not too late to help promote this event. We need participation to still make this event successful. As of now, the only reasons for cancelation would be a COVID-19 related Georgia Department of Education decision or severe weather. Mild rain or pop up showers will not cancel this event.

For registration forms or any questions about the courses, t-shirt, or COVID-19 safety measures; contact Event Director, Bryan Richardson at email: rich5060@bellsouth.net or Cell #: 678-764-2611.
