ZEBULON - There were three accidents around the Pike County Schools today. Two were related to school traffic and the other wasn’t though it was during school time when traffic is slowed.
Wreck #1
The first wreck occurred at Hughley and Old Meansville Roads at 7:40 a.m. The driver of a 1997 Toyota 4 Runner was traveling east on Hughley Road at the intersection of Old Meansville Road. An empty 2016 Freightliner Saf-T-Liner school bus was traveling south on Old Meansville Road approaching the intersection of Hughley Road.
The driver of the Toyota 4 Runner was stopped at the stop sign and began to move forward to see around the two school buses traveling east on Old Meansville Road in the right turning lane to turn onto Hughley Road. The driver of the Toyota failed to see the bus coming south and began to turn left to travel north on Old Meansville Road.
The two vehicles impacted in the intersection. The Toyota struck the passenger’s side front of the school bus with the front of the Toyota. The Toyota came to a stop at the point of impact and was disabled as well as blocking the southbound lane. The bus came to a stop on the east shoulder of the road partially blocking the northbound lane.
The Toyota 4 Runner had a driver and three minors as passengers. The school bus had a driver but no passengers.
A witness was traveling north on Old Meansville Road and gave her statement.
The Board of Education sent out an email this morning that advised parents that there had been a minor school bus accident on Old Meansville Road involving an empty bus. “THERE WERE NO STUDENTS ON THE BUS.”
Georgia State Patrol worked this accident.

One driver was taken by a family member for treatment. Two of the drivers were juveniles.

Wreck #3
The third wreck occurred this afternoon as parents were lining up to pick up kids from the Primary School.
The driver of a Ford Ranger pulled out from the stop sign from Old Zebulon Road by Christ Chapel to go north onto Highway 19 into the path of a box truck that was going north.
The box truck struck the passenger side of the Ford Ranger.
There were no injuries.
The Zebulon Police Department worked this accident.
