Motorcyclist and Truck Collide in Zebulon
By Editor Becky Watts

ZEBULON - An emergency call for help came into 911 in Zebulon around 2:12 p.m. on Friday afternoon. A motorcyclist and a truck had collided in front of Mr. B's and the motorcycle driver was under the truck.

TFC2 James Womble of the Georgia State Patrol advised that a motorcycle was traveling south on Highway 19 in the left lane and approaching downtown Zebulon. A truck came to a complete stop at Williamson-Zebulon Road and the driver looked both ways. The driver advised that she did not see the motorcycle and pulled out to make a left turn. However, the left turn was in front of the the motorcycle, and as a result, the rider impacted the truck and ultimately ended up caught under the truck.

Emergency personnel worked for some time to get the motorcycle rider, Matt Holt, out from under the truck. A life flight helicopter was called for transport at one point, but the weather was bad enough that the rider was taken to Spalding Regional by ambulance. He has since been moved to a Macon hospital and is in stable condition.

Matt's sister, Amy, has been keeping friends and family updated on her brother's condition through Facebook. Pike County Times obtained permission to share updates on his condition. Amy said this afternoon that Matt came through surgery fine, and he will not lose his leg as it was feared originally. He will have a skin graph procedure on this leg later this week, and doctors have fixed his arm and his ankle. He will have another leg surgery in four to six weeks and will have full use of his leg in three months.

The family greatly appreciates the prayers and care that the community has shown to them and to Matt after his wreck. Please keep Matt in prayer as this is going to be a long-term healing process.
