BREAKING NEWS: DUI Driver Stops Traffic in Zebulon Today

ZEBULON - According to Major David Neal of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was made to report a dark colored truck driving recklessly into Zebulon this afternoon around the 5 o’clock hour. The driver of a dark colored F150 was speeding and riding down both the wrong side of the road and the center lane on Highway 19 by Racquethause South coming south on Highway 19.

Southbound lanes of traffic were quickly blocked in Zebulon as deputies attempted to get the driver to stop his truck. Due to heavy traffic conditions in Zebulon, deputies first attempted to box him in, and when he still wouldn’t stop, they forced his vehicle to come to a stop beside First Bank of Pike in Zebulon.

When deputies asked the driver to get out of the vehicle, he refused and was extricated by deputies who had to break the driver’s side window to force him out of the truck. One of the deputies was treated for minor cuts to his hand. The suspect also received medical treatment.

Major Neal advised that the driver of the truck, 42 year old Rodney Yeoman from Griffin, was obviously under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Yeoman refused to take a test for alcohol on the scene and will be automatically charged with a DUI (driving under the influence). He faces numerous other charges as well.

The City of Zebulon assisted with traffic around the wreck scene as well as insuring that the suspect was taken into custody. Georgia State Patrol worked the wreck scene and wrote up the incident report since a Pike County Sheriff’s Office vehicle was involved in the wreck.

“This is another good example of law enforcement agencies working together for the good of the community,” said Major Neal.
