ZEBULON - A call came into the Pike County 911 Center at 2:11 p.m. yesterday afternoon about a wreck in front of the schools on Highway 19. The drivers from both cars were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Cpl. David Bullock from the Georgia State Patrol, Pike resident Rebecca Bishop was facing southbound on Highway 19 and stopped in the left turn lane at the Primary School as she prepared to turn into the school. Christoper James Hortman of Cumming was driving northbound on Highway 19 and pulled into the same turn lane, hitting Mrs. Bishop's vehicle head on.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Mrs. Bishop was transported by ambulance to Grady Hospital, and Mr. Hortman was transported to Atlanta Medical Center by air ambulance. Pike County Fire Department volunteers were on the scene as well as South Georgia Ambulance to assist in this wreck.
