BREAKING NEWS: Early Morning Wreck Involves Pike County Deputy
By Editor Becky Watts

MOLENA - A Pike County Deputy was involved in an automobile collision on Highway 18 at Nixon Road this morning. The accident happened before 8 a.m. when there was a thick fog covering the area.

Deputy Chaundra Dickerson was driving west bound on Highway 18 in her patrol car. Jazmin Spinks was driving east bound on Highway 18 in a 2006 Nissan Altima. Deputy Dickerson was making a left hand turn onto Nixon Road in her patrol car when her car was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle. The Georgia State Patrol was called to investigate the incident.

Trooper First Class Clayton Jones advised that the vehicle that struck the patrol car did not have its lights on in the inclement weather and that dense fog limited visibility. Deputy Dickerson advised TFC Jones that she never saw the car coming before it struck her passenger side. TFC Jones advised that the patrol car couldn’t yield to something that it could not see.

Deputy Dickerson was transported by South Georgia Ambulance to Upson Regional. Ms. Spinks and her minor child were transported by South Georgia Ambulance to Spalding Regional. All were transported with non-life threatening injuries.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved for a quick recovery,” said Pike County Sheriff Jimmy Thomas.
