Saturday Wreck with Mail Truck Blocks Highway 109 East

MEANSVILLE - An accident blocked Highway 109 East on Saturday, January 14th, near Williams Mill Road around 11 a.m. A Dodge Ram Pickup hit a mail truck and sent the mail truck down an embankment.

The Dodge Ram was driven by Christopher Beeland, age 19, of Meansville. The mail truck was driven by 66 year old Allen Oliver.

According to the accident report, the Dodge Ram was traveling west on Highway 109. Beeland advised that he saw the mail truck and put on the brakes. When he put on the brakes, he lost control of his vehicle, went off of the road, down into the ditch, and hit the mail truck when he re-entered the road.

Beeland was issued a citation for following too closely. There were no serious injuries; however, the driver of the mail truck, Allen Oliver, was transported to Spalding Regional Hospital.
