Lifsey Springs Litterbug Identified; Powder Creek Cleaned Up
By Editor Becky Watts

LIFSEY SPRINGS - On Monday evening, May 15, 2017, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office received a report of trash and other items had been dumped in Powder Creek at the Howell Road Bridge. Major David Neal and Captain Jamie Strickland came out to investigate.

By Tuesday, they had backtracked old documents from a Henry County address to a Pike County residence. The home owner was contacted on Tuesday.

The investigation revealed that the home owner had given money to her son to take items to the dump. Her son, 18 year old Braxton Gilliland, admitted dumping the trash and items into the creek.

Major Neal advised that Mr. Gilleland was issued a summons to appear in Probate Court and instructed to clean up the mess which he has done.

Mandy Cloy posted before and after pictures on Facebook with a thank you to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office—specifically naming Major Neal and Captain Strickland--from the residents of Lifsey Springs.
