Pike Primary School Technology Teacher Receives Team Depot Grant

ZEBULON - The technology teacher at Pike Primary School received a new addition to her classroom this school year. Angie Nix was the recipient of the Team Depot grant. The funds were used to create an outside space students can enjoy during their time in computer lab.

"Not all technology has cords so it will be fun for the students to take the tablets outside, grab a seat on a stepping stone and work from there," said Mrs. Nix. "The courtyard is a welcomed addition to our school and it has already brought lots of smiles to lots of faces. Almost 700 students get to come to the computer lab so I am glad every child in the school will get to enjoy it."

Not only did Home Depot of Thomaston fund all the materials for the project, the employees from the store came to PCPS on their day off and helped create the space. Assistant Manager Matthew Loughridge said, "I am so glad we were able to aide in this project! Giving back to the community is such an important part of Home Depot's culture. I'm so grateful to work for a company that commits to the community and veterans and encourages every associate to be involved in giving back to the community that supports us!!!

A BIG thank you to the people who helped with this project... Angie Nix ( tech teacher) Walker Webber- volunteer 8th grader Kristi Westmoreland - PE coach Team Depot members.
