Enjoy Teen Summer Reading at the J. Joel Edwards Library

ZEBULON - This year’s first summer teen craft program went off without a hitch. Teens from all around showed up to build a hexagon shelf, and talk about books they enjoyed and even their favorite shows on Netflix. Everyone left with new friends, book recommendations, a handmade shelf and ideas of how to use it in their own homes.

The next teen craft program will be held on Monday, July 17, at 1:00. Teens aged 13-18 will be making a scratch-off CD using their own designs. All materials will be supplied.

As a bonus, any time a teen checks out an item from the library this summer, they will receive a scratch-off ticket (limit one a day). Upon receiving a ticket, the teen will either be an instant winner, or be entered into a raffle for a large prize at the end of the summer. Teens have already won prizes such as Starbucks and iTunes gift cards with many more upcoming prizes still in the running.

For further incentive to visit the library this summer, teens are also welcome to enter the Book-in-a-Jar contest for a chance to win a prize at the end of each month. Pages from a popular book have been shredded and stuffed in a jar. Who can guess from the strips of text which book is in the jar?

For more information on the summer reading programs, call 770-567-2014 or visit the library during regular business hours: MWF 10-5, TTh 10-7, and Sat. 10-3.
