Pike County Kiwanis Club Hosts Members of Teen Challenge

ZEBULON - The Pike County Kiwanis Club was blessed today with insight provided by Teen Challenge Executive Director Mr. Munden into their Pike County facility. Teen Challenge is located south of Zebulon on Hwy. 19S. The Pike County Kiwanis Club supports Teen Challenge’s mission through financial and volunteer contributions.

In late Spring 2015, Kiwanis provided a work day performing various facility improvements and mentoring the teen residents in large scale outdoor grilling, creating watercolor art, and organic gardening. Mr. Munden was joined by two current residents to thank the club for our support.

Following Mr. Munden’s introduction, our membership received an aspiring message from one of the teens.

Chris is a resident at Teen Challenge and volunteered to share his life story. Chris’ story is short compared to most, yet jam-packed with every conceivable challenge imaginable in an entire life. Just incredible, at such a young age.

Chris started from the beginning. Chris’ story transfixed us. He described his upbringing, his decline, his addictions, his manipulative behavior, his transgressions, his awakening, his redemption and his hope for his future.

Chris told his story truthfully. He didn’t hide. He told the truth. He accepted responsibility. He also understood that he was forgiven. He had grown. Chris stood before adults and testified like an adult. That is how Teen Challenge transforms young men.

Everyone that heard Chris’ story was blessed.
