Local Swim Team Open for new Members of all Ages
By Guest Columnist Eric Snell

GRIFFIN - Get out of the heat and train to be a competitive swimmer this summer! Swimming can be so much more rewarding and fun when you learn to race competitively.

The local Gator swim team is expanding for the summer to encourage more swimmers to try out the sport this summer. The team has a year round program that trains here in Pike county through the winter and competes throughout the state. With the increase in summer swimmers, the program moves to Griffin to make room for more swimmers of all ages.

The team is highly competitive with swimmers qualifying every year for the summer state swim meet. For the past 2 years this team has had at least 1 swimmer actually place first in the Georgia state swim meet. The Gator program focuses on high school swimmers all the way to 5 year olds.

Lead by head coach Nathan Wilson, swimmers are trained four competitive swim strokes, precise dive and entry details, flip turns and how to become well balanced racers. New swimmers over the age of 5 are welcome to join and will be placed in one of 4 summer sessions.

Swimmers are evaluated when they first join to be sure they are placed in the proper training group for their skills and abilities. The team offers a 2 week trial period to try out the team without committing to training the entire summer. Try something different this summer while having fun with your friends.
