Summer Reading at the J. Joel Edwards Library

ZEBULON - Summer Reading Programs are ongoing this summer at the J. Joel Edwards Library.

Preschool programs are ages 3-5 on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Programs for school age children through age 12 are on Thursdays at 1 p.m. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Programs for teens grades 8 -12 will be on Mondays at 1 p.m.

There are also Summer Reading Programs on Thursdays at 1 p.m. along with programs for adults on Thursday evenings.

**Please note that there is no admittance once the programs have begun so don’t be late!

Here are the Teen Programs on Mondays 1 p.m. June 13 – Blackout Poetry. June 20 – Dance Class. June 27 – Jenga/Kerplunk. Monday July 5 – CLOSED. July 11 – Trivia. July 18 – Live Action Pac Man. July 25 – Olympic Flag Scavenger Hunt.

Here are the preschool programs on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. June 14 – All About You. June 21 – Dance, Dance, Dance. June 28 – Yummy. July 5 – Let’s Play. July 12 – Move It! July 18 – Round and Round We Go. July 26 – Circus of Motion.

Here are the programs in place for Thursdays at 1 p.m. Mad Maddie Crane – June 16. Fiddlin’ Dan the Mountain Man – June 23. Chief Rick O’Barr from the Pike County Fire Department – June 30. Boy Scouts on July 7. Jim Quick presents a program on bees – July 14. Camelot Theater - July 21. Drumming for Success – July 28.

Here are the evening programs. Author Deron Hicks – Shakespeare’s Secrets – June 16 at 6 p.m. Basic Canning with Helen Carter from the Pike County Extension Office – June 23 from 5-7 p.m. The Hidden South Photography with Brent Walker – June 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. No evening program on July 14th because there is a Library Board Meeting that the public is welcome to attend. Author Gwen Roland – Postmark Bayou Chene at 6 p.m. Harp Guitars with John Riley – July 28 at 6 p.m.

There are also Do It Yourself and other cool classes on Saturdays at 1 p.m. June 11 – Basic Canning. June 18 – Adult Coloring. June 25 – Free Movie. July 2 – Do It Yourself. July 16 – Adult Coloring. July 23 – Free Movie.

Mark your calendar for the Summer Reading Finale on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be LOTS of fun including an inflatable and games.

The final day register is July 16th and the final day to turn in your reading logs is Saturday, July 23.
