Pike County Holds Annual Special Olympics

ZEBULON - The Pike County School System held its annual Special Olympics on Wednesday, May 6,2015. Students from Mrs. Destiny's class, Mrs. Oxenford's class, and Mrs. Stewart's class from Pike County Primary School joined with students from Pike County Elementary School in Mrs. Caudle's class, Pike County Middle School in Mrs. Gresham and Mrs. Porter's classes, and Pike County High School in Mrs. Hicks' class at the track as they did their best in games and race activities.

Olympics participant Kyla Curtis ran the torch for the opening ceremony with 12th graders Madison Holt and Jack Story. 5th grader Callista Clark sang the national anthem, and students recited The Special Olympic Athlete Oath with Board of Education Member Ryan Edge by saying: “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” Time with friends and family, food, fun, and Doodle the Clown made the day special for all.

Thank you to all who who supported these athletes in any way during their annual Special Olympics!
