ZEBULON - On May 11, 2017, Pike County School students with special needs enjoyed Sensory Sensation, formerly the Special Olympics, at the high school track. Students competed in games, played on the water slide, enjoyed balloon animals and hats from Balloon Man Entertainment with Scott Netherton, got tattoos or their faces painted.
There were also stations where they could paint a class masterpiece by throwing a sponge onto a tablecloth, play with bubbles or drive toy vehicles through mud and water, throw a ball up into the air using a parachute--this was also a way to identify and run to particular colors, and play with shaving cream and a gooey glue with their hands.
Afterward, members of the Pike County Kiwanis Club volunteered their time to serve lunch at this event to the students and teachers. A fun time was had by the students and their family members at this event!
