Suspicious Package Shuts Down SCTC Campus in Thomaston Today

THOMASTON - At approximately 1:40 p.m. a suspicious package was identified by a Southern Crescent Technical College (SCTC) employee at the side entrance to Building A on the Flint River Campus in Thomaston, Georgia. SCTC Police were immediately notified and, in an abundance of caution, Buildings A and B were evacuated and remained closed while law enforcement investigated this package.

The Thomaston Fire Department was first to investigate the package and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was then called to respond. The package was thoroughly examined and the investigation was completed by the GBI at approximately 4:20 p.m. where it was determined that the package was not a threat. An All Clear was issued to resume normal operations at that time.
