Boy Scouts Get First Aid Training With Grady Ambulance

ZEBULON - Grady/South Georgia Ambulance held a free two night class that taught basic and advanced first aid to more than twenty members of Boy Scout Troop 37 out of Meansville over the past couple of weeks. These scouts live in both Pike and Upson counties.

Over twenty Boy Scouts were CPR certified during the course that Grady taught at no charge to the Scouting organization. “This is an asset to the community because if someone has a problem in Freshway or wherever, we have young men who are trained to help,” said Scout Master Charles Pendley. “The more people we have, the more protected our community is.”

Charles said that Fred Leonard, one of the medics who was teaching, was an Eagle Scout. That brought the story into a full circle as each of these young men are learning life skills as well as working toward becoming Eagle Scouts.

Thank you to Grady/South Georgia Ambulance for their help in this endeavor.

Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster.
