Sheriff's Office Investigates Call to Pike County High School
By Editor Becky Watts

ZEBULON - A call from a blocked number was received at the Pike County High School this morning that prompted security procedures for the school. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office was notified in order to track down the address of the residence from which the call was made and interview the caller. It was determined that there was not a credible threat to the school.

Pike County Times contacted Superintendent Michael Duncan regarding the situation and was advised that the school received a voicemail that was difficult to understand but sounded threatening.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we placed the school on a heightened security status and notified the Sheriff’s Department,” Duncan said. “In short order, the Sheriff’s Department located the caller and deemed the call a misunderstanding.”

Major David Neal advised that no criminal charges will be filed and that the person meant no ill intent.
