ZEBULON - The Pike County Sheriff's Office issued a scam alert to citizens today. Sheriff's Deputies arrested two men this afternoon that were attempting to scam a homeowner in Pike County.
The men approached the resident inquiring if they would like pine straw put out around the house. A price was negotiated and agreed upon. The men then put some pine straw out around the house and then returned to the homeowner stating that the price was triple what had been agreed upon earlier and that they had used almost three times the amount of pine straw.
When the victim became suspicious and questioned the suspects about the price change they became belligerent and insulting towards the victim.
Two people were arrested for criminal attempt Theft by Deception. Marcquavious Warrior and Jamal Copeland, both of Meriwether County, are both currently in the Pike County Jail.
