Emergency Personnel Respond to Overnight Incidents

ZEBULON - Emergency personnel responded to two incidents overnight in Pike County. There was a fire last night and a wreck early this morning.

The Pike County Fire Department reports that there was a structure fire around 11:30 p.m. last night on Beeks Road off of Highway 362. Fire department personnel responded and put the fire out. The home sustained fire damage and heavy smoke and heat damage. There were no injuries in this incident.

The Pike County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle car wreck this morning at 5:15 a.m. in the area of Highway 362 and Scott Road in Hollonville. Pike County Sheriff's Office traffic investigators reported that a Toyota passenger car was traveling eastbound and the driver lost control of the vehicle. This caused him to strike a tree.

The driver, Isaiah Ferrell from Meriwether County, was able to state to Deputies that he had fallen asleep while driving causing the accident. Pike County Fire Department personnel worked to extricate the driver from the vehicle before he could be transported to a medical facility.

Life flight transported the driver to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. The crash remains under investigation until all of the facts are gathered.
