Reconciliation House Inc. to Send Out Christmas Dinners to the Community

YATESVILLE - You can help make a difference this season by partnering with theHis Love Extended Christmas Dinner campaign sponsored by Reconciliation House Inc. (RHI). Beginning the week of Dec 21st through Christmas Day on the 25th, RHI is asking for volunteers to help with all stages of preparation to ensure many of Monroe County’s residents have a full holiday meal on the table.

This year’s goal is to deliver meals and fellowship with over 400 families. Here’s a chance for everyone to get involved in serving the community. How can we help?

How Can the Community Help?

Food donations that are needed include the following ham, turkey and other meat. Canned goods are needed as well as variety of breads and dessert. Canned and bottled drinks are also needed.

Miscellaneous donations include compartment and hinged containers, plastic ware/utensils for eating, napkins, and plastic Ziploc bags. Cash donations are tax deductible and can be used to buy items needed as well.

Volunteers are also needed. Volunteers are need to be praying for families in need, for days of service, and for our volunteers.

Cooks are needed to smoke, grill, fry, and bake the donated turkeys and hams.

Volunteers are needed to assist in cooking preparation, food storage, and route preparation.

We also need drivers, delivery carriers, and encouragers. (Familiarity with Monroe County is a plus!)

Would you rather help with administrative needs? We need volunteers to help distribute and collect help service applications, delivery information, and confirm callers.

Schedule Times?

Friday, December 21 will be the day to receive donations and begin food preparation, utensil preparation, and dinner packaging preparation. We also request prayer for this even beginning on this day.

Saturday, December 22 will be a day of receiving donations and cooking food.

Sunday, December 23 will be the final day for food donations. The delivery routes will be set up this day, and food will continue to be cooked.

Monday, December 24 will the day to package 400 or more meals for delivery to the community. Clean up teams will come in to clean up after four days of service to the community.

And Tuesday, December 25th will be the final day of service with volunteers delivering dinners with a smile, encouragement and prayer. They will also be invite to a worship service.
