Pike County Parks & Recreation Reopens With a Few Exceptions

ZEBULON - Pike County Parks & Recreation has reopened with a few exceptions. Director Kevin Teate advised Parks & Rec families by letter and sent that letter to the media as well. The letter reads as follows:

Dear PCPRA Sports Families,

The Pike County Parks & Recreation Authority Complex is now open, with a few exceptions. The playground at the soccer complex and the playground at the baseball/softball fields will remain closed. Only two restrooms will be open. The baseball and soccer restrooms are open, while the softball and football restrooms will remain closed. Dugouts & player benches are also off limits and closed. Only one entrance is open for the baseball/softball/football portion of the complex. We are asking everyone to enter and exit through the main entrance located on Twin Oaks Road nearest the recreation office. Also, the soccer complex entrance will remain open.

Any teams or organized groups must reserve field time and obtain a facility use permit. We ask all teams, organized groups and individuals to follow the PCPRA Guide to Re-opening Athletic Fields (attached). Teams and organized groups must also have a signed waiver to use the fields. Scrimmages and games are not allowed at this time.

All park users must follow the most recent executive order from the Governor. Social distancing and no gatherings over 50 people are in effect. We also recommend that park users follow all CDC guidelines. We have many signs posted around the park reminding users of PCPRA & CDC guidelines. If you have symptoms of Covid-19 do not enter the parks & recreation complex. Use of the Pike County Parks & Recreation Authority Complex is At Your Own Risk.

Updates will be sent as they become available and are necessary. More information on fall baseball, softball and football will be sent before the end of the month. Fall sports registration is scheduled to begin July 1. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your patience as we navigate through this unique situation and time. As always, stay safe & well!

Respectfully,
Kevin Teate, Director
