City of Zebulon Declares First Thursday of February as Optimist Day

ZEBULON - On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, some of the members Hope 4 Tomorrow Optimist Club were able to witness Mayor Bobby Blalock sign in an affect that the City of Zebulon recognized every first Thursday in February as Optimist Day.

The proclamation read as follows:
OPTIMIST DAY
The first Thursday of every February
WHEREAS, Volunteers working with young people who are our joy of today and are our hope for tomorrow, are exuberant representatives of the potential to be reached and dreams to come true. They are also unbounded in their enthusiasm to use their own talent, skills, and hard work to make a difference in others' lives, and;
WHEREAS, Member of Optimist International will celebrate OPTIMIST DAY throughout the world the first Thursday of every February to promote their efforts in helping and recognizing the young people that make a difference in their communities and who will encourage a greater exchange of ideas between young people and adults, and;
WHEREAS, There are 2400 Optimist Clubs, with more than 70,000 Members, in Optimist International and Optimist members throughout the world that carry out more than 6500 service projects that serve six million young people a year;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Bobby Blalock, Mayor of the City of Zebulon, issue this proclamation declaring the first Thursday of every February as Optimist Day in the City of Zebulon. May this day instill pride in our city's Optimists for all of their accomplishments and for the impact they have to truly make a difference in others' lives.

Hope for Tomorrow Optimist Club Is Formed in Pike County

ZEBULON - Optimist International is one of the world's largest children's service organizations with 75,000 adult and youth members in 2,600 clubs in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico, and throughout the world, has chartered a new local club in Pike County.

This new club will serve the children of Pike County where citizens have united to serve local youth and set a positive example for children throughout the community.

Hope 4 Tomorrow OPTIMIST CLUB officially formed on October 9, 2017 and aims to help the children and the community while helping you to be more optimistic in your life!

Hope 4 Tomorrow welcomes anyone interested in volunteering and helping improve the community. "We are just starting out, but we already have big plans in the works, and our number one priority will be helping the children and community," Club President Rufus Clemmons said. "Initial projects are directly related to only our community and our citizens," he said. "The fruits of our labors will be seen at the local level!"
