ZEBULON - The Pike County Georgia MLK Jr. Day Committee requests the presence of all citizens of Pike County and neighboring counties to celebrate the 2018 MLK Day with them. The annual event was held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 10 a.m.
The parade is scheduled to leave the parking lot of Fullers Chapel United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. We are encouraging all churches, businesses and civic organizations to join us in this celebration. There is no parade fee.
All parade participants are asked to be in place and ready to leave no later than 9:45 a.m. The theme for this year is “Defeat by no means, we are Conquerors #StayWoke.”
The annual MLK program will follow directly after the parade at the Mt. Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Derrick Driver and Rev. Steven Driver will be the guest speakers. This year all Pike County Students with Merit/Honor Roll status will be honored during the program.
The 2018 Torch Bearer Award recipient for this year is Mrs. Geneva P. Woods. Mrs. Woods was one of the best teachers in the Pike County School System.
