ZEBULON - On May 30, 2016, the Pike County American Legion Post 197 and the Legion Family will be hosting the Pike County Memorial Day Program at the south side of the Pike County Courthouse Square in Zebulon, Georgia. The public is invited to attend this event commencing at 10:00 a.m.
The Memorial Day program helps those in attendance remember and honor those military service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice for defending the freedoms that we as Americans currently enjoy. Veterans who died this past year in Pike County will be recognized and honored.
As part of the program, attendees will hear “The Origin and Relationship of the Poppy to Memorial Day”. A tribute to Willie Lee King will be conducted and the inscription “King, W.L.”, the newest name under the Vietnam War will be unveiled on the Pike County Veterans Monument. A wreath will be laid at the base of the Monument and Taps will be played in honor of all deceased Veterans.
