Happy 100th Birthday to Helen Mangham
By Guest Columnist Pam Vickers

LIFSEY SPRINGS - Helen Mangham was born on August 2, 1915 in the Lifsey Springs community in Pike County, GA. She is the oldest of five children, who are all still living. They are being looked at by the Guiness Book for the oldest combined age of living siblings.

She has one son, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren for a total of three sets of five generations. She also taught Sunday School for 40 years.

Her most memorable time as a child was going to the summer resort that was located in the Lifsey Springs community.

Although some of the following things were invented before her time, she did not witness them until she was older since her family was very poor. Inventions she witnessed first hand are: electricity, cars, appliances, telephone, television, and today's technology. She stated, "I think electricity is one of the greatest things to come along."

When I asked her what she contributed to her longevity, she replied, "The biggest thing is trusting in The Lord, and knowing He is always with me."
