ZEBULON - Throughout the month of March, the J. Joel Edwards Public Library hosted its first annual Read Across America Challenge. To celebrate Read Across America month, children throughout Pike County were invited to pick up a reading log at the library and keep track of their reading time throughout the entire month with a goal of 15 hours.
Once hours were logged at home, participants were encouraged to re-visit the library, have their reading time recorded, and receive Seuss-inspired prizes as well as a brand-new book to add to their shelves.

The library will continue to offer opportunities for students ages 0-18 to win prizes for their time spent reading with the Summer Reading Program beginning on June 1st.
Other programs at the library include virtual story times for a variety of age groups, a virtual cooking class for kids on the third Saturday of each month, and free Take-and-Make craft kits that are available the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
