Local Family Raising Money to Cover Son’s Medical Bills
The Wainwrights hope to raise $5,000 after illness

CONCORD - Josiah Vaughn lives the normal life of 13-year-old. He watching sports and doing outdoor activities with his family, including his brother and two sisters. Unfortunately, Josiah contracted a gastrointestinal illness on Thanksgiving of 2016, and spent nine days recovering in Egleston Children’s Hospital.

Josiah’s mother, Tabitha, was by his side during this illness and recovery, which meant taking time off work. Coupled with the medical bills for Josiah’s treatment, this has caused the family some financial stress, so they have created a fundraising page on RedBasket.org and hope to raise $5,000 to lift some of the burden.

“Reaching our goal would be a huge sigh of relief,” said Tabitha. “I am usually not one to ask for help, but right now, I’m unable to meet the needs of my family.”

Josiah is recovering at home, and hopes to regain his strength soon so he can get back to his normal activities. His fundraiser will be online through February 9. To learn more about Josiah or to contribute a tax-deductible donation, please visit redbasket.org/1181/josiahs-recovery-journey.
