Frankie's Bad Day

CONCORD - Frankie’s day did not start well. When the four year old Appaloosa gelding did not show up for morning feeding his owners began searching the property. What they found was both unnerving and unbelievable.

Frankie was wedged in a creek bed, up to his belly and chest in mud with his head inside a metal culvert. Quick action by the owners set a rescue mission in motion.

Personnel from Pike County Animal Control, Pike County Fire Department, the City of Concord, Pike County Road Department, Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Dr. Melissa Fulton of Fulton Equine Clinic worked diligently to free Frankie and move him to a safe location.

This rescue had a happy ending! Photos and article courtesy of the Pike County Fire Department.
