Georgia Commission on the Holocaust Donates Artifact Trunk to PCMS

ZEBULON - The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust has donated an artifact trunk to Pike County Middle School. The trunk contains various artifacts and resources to be used by the students and teachers so they might enrich their understanding of the Holocaust.

Students learn about the Holocaust in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades, each grade focusing on the different aspects of this historical chapter in history. Both social studies and language arts are used to explore the subject.

The trunk contains items such as books, replicas of historical significance, a 3D replica of Anne Frank’s hiding place and several other items. Mike Weinroth of Holocaust commission delivered the trunk and explained its importance and shared some unique facts about the Holocaust itself. The school is very excited and privileged to house the trunk. Students are excited to learn about the Holocaust and anything that will help pique the interest of the students is welcome.

The school is also in the process of securing a Holocaust survivor to share his story with the students. It will give a voice to what is learned.
