Georgia Power Making Changes; Closing the Zebulon Office

ZEBULON - Georgia Power announced several organizational changes to better allow us to meet the changing needs of our customers and provide them with world-class service at the lowest possible rates. Over the past decade, payment transactions have shifted from traditional business offices and mail to electronic payments (online, mobile and auto-draft), which currently account for more than 50 percent of all payments.

First, we announced that we are expanding our network of Authorized Payment Locations (APLs) from more than 2,700 currently to 5,300 locations in grocery and retail stores by the end of the year. In addition, our 24-hour Customer Service line is available, and online options at www.georgiapower.com or via our smartphone app.

Additionally, beginning in mid-October, Georgia Power will operate 27 business offices across the state with 2 to 3 business offices in each region. These 27 offices are the busiest in the state with the majority handling more than 100,000 customer transactions per year.

Georgia Power’s “West Region” will have two offices open for customers: Americus and Columbus.

The Zebulon business office will be closing October 20, 2016.

Georgia Power is committed to being “A Citizen Wherever We Serve” through a strong local community presence. The Zebulon Operating Headquarters and Line crew and Engineering personnel will remain at the Zebulon facility.

The organizational changes will result in the loss of about 270 jobs by the end of the year.

We’re working closely with all impacted employees and, in the majority of cases, employees will have the opportunity to apply for other positions within the company.
