Helping Out With "Fun in the Son"
By Guest Columnist Tiffany Jones

YATESVILLE - Upon meeting Angela Johnson of Reconciliation House, I saw a woman so driven by her vision for the youth of our community that despite going through some recent health issues, she was continuing with her annual summer youth camp "Fun in the Son."

Being moved by her passion for these teens, I asked if she would mind if I got some people together to help with the work that needed to be done on the property to prepare for the camp in July. Being blessed with some amazing friends with a heart to serve, I posted about the need for volunteers and it became clear that it would be best to organize a few events to give everyone who would like to serve the opportunity to help complete these tasks before July.

The dates planned are: Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The location will be sent privately.

Whether you can come 1 day or 3 days, for 1 hour or 5 hours. Any help will be appreciated!

Please keep in mind that we will be outside so dress accordingly and don't forget sunscreen and insect repellant. We will provide cold drinks and snacks.

If you have any questions about this event, I can be contacted through email or Facebook. Any questions about the ministry will need to be directed to Angela Johnson (link below).

Each event will be posted separately (on Facebook) so we can have an idea of how many volunteers will be attending each day. Each task can be easily completed with a specific amount of volunteers so knowing how many people will be attending will help with organizing these days.

The tasks to be completed are as follows:
-Make a trail if possible (through woods)
-cut back tree limbs
-clean up yard debris
-pressure wash tents
-re-stake/secure tents
-move furniture in pavilion
-cut grass
-plant grass
-move tires (the youth will be making flower beds out of them)
-Clean the bank around pond
-Clean leaves out of pool
-Till out flower beds
-Rebuild the stage
-restore bleachers
-Build at least 2 cabins

This would be a lot of work for only a few people but if we can come together as a community, we can complete everything on this list in only a few days. This is an opportunity to make a positive impact in our area while coming together to be a blessing to this ministry. If we can take care of the physical preparation, those in the ministry can focus on the spiritual preparation.

Community service hours can be given for time as well as receipts (for tax purposes) for donations, as this is a Georgia charity.

If you are not able to attend any of the community service events but would like to donate to the ministry, donations for building supplies (contact me for supply list or quotes) can be made by contacting Reconciliation House and monetary donations of any amount can be made by using the secure online donation form.

Any contributions will be a blessing, not only to the ministry and youth participating in this camp but to our community as well. Our youth are our future.

I can be contacted by email at tiffanyrj83@gmail.com or on Facebook at tiffany.jones.714.
