Pike County and Meansville Fire Department Fundraiser Starts Next Week

ZEBULON - The Pike Volunteer Emergency Services Booster Organization (PVESBO) is hosting its annual fundraiser to purchase needed items that may not be covered by the county budget for our volunteer fire department. This is a program that has been in place for many years.

Representatives of Excalibur Central, LLC will be knocking on doors in the county on the behalf of the Pike County Fire Department and Meansville Fire Department to ask if residents would like to support the fire departments with a $40 tax deductible donation and receive a coupon for a free family portrait.

Photos will be taken at the Allie B. Edwards Senior Center in Zebulon but no dates have been decided at this time.

Each year the departments decide whether to use the funds collectively for more expensive items that support firefighting or evenly distribute the funds at the station level for purchase of station specific needs. In the past, Pike County and Meansville Fire Departments collectively have purchased thermal imaging cameras, gas leak detectors as well as a CASCADE System which is a refill station for SCBA air cylinders. Last year the funds were used to buy additional gas leak detectors for the fire stations.

Look for representatives to begin knocking on doors starting next week. Thanks for supporting the Pike County and Meansville Fire Departments!
