Pike County’s Own Dakota Fox Named Airman of the Quarter

ZEBULON - Pike County native Airman First Class Dakota Fox has been recognized with the prestigious Airman of the Quarter award — an honor that highlights his outstanding performance, leadership, and dedication to the United States Air Force.

A lifelong Pike County Pirate, Dakota attended Pike County Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating with honors. During his time as a Pirate, he was a proud member of both the football and golf teams, while also dual-enrolled at Georgia Military College.

Outside the classroom, Dakota was an active member of the 4-H Shotgun Team throughout high school, earning multiple district titles and top-five finishes at the state level. His leadership extended beyond competition as he served as President of the 4-H Shotgun Club for one season.

Dakota’s commitment to service began early through Boy Scouts of America Troop 107, where he worked his way from Cub Scout Bear to Eagle Scout. His Eagle Scout project—a flag retirement box located at Williamson Veterans Park—continues to serve the community and honor local veterans.

A devoted member of Christ Chapel Community Church, Dakota was baptized there and has volunteered in numerous church services and domestic mission trips.

Following high school, Dakota pursued a degree in Kinesiology at Augusta University Medical College, where he balanced his studies with campus life by serving as the beloved school mascot, “Augustus.” His enthusiasm and energy took him across the country with the athletic teams, and he was even featured in ESPN commercials.

In January 2024, Dakota made the bold decision to put his senior year on hold to pursue his lifelong dream of serving in the United States Armed Forces. After meeting with representatives from multiple branches, he chose to enlist in the U.S. Air Force on January 16, 2024.

Dakota quickly proved his commitment and skill, graduating at the top of his Basic Military Training class on March 7, 2024. The following day, he reported for Mobility Forces Aviator Training, an elite program that began with over 40 airmen — of which only two successfully completed. His training took him from Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas to Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington State, where he mastered the rigorous demands of flight operations.

Now proudly serving as a Load Master in the 317th Airlift Wing, “The Screaming Eagles,” Dakota is stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. Fewer than 5% of Air Force personnel earn the title of Aircrew, making his accomplishment especially distinguished.

Recently deployed to Kuwait, Dakota continues to exemplify excellence in service and leadership. Looking ahead, he plans to complete his degree in Kinesiology, pursue an additional degree in Aircraft Mechanics, and remain enlisted with the ultimate goal of achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

Dakota is married to his college sweetheart, Rachel Fox, and is the proud son of Lt. James Fox (PCSO) and Krysten Fox. His achievements stand as a testament to his hard work, faith, and the strong foundation built in Pike County.

Congratulations, Senior Airman Dakota Fox, on being named Airman of the Quarter — your hometown couldn’t be prouder.
