ZEBULON - The Pike-Spalding-Lamar-Upson-Clayton Forestry Unit was commended as Georgia Forestry Commission's 2017 North Georgia Unit of the Year on February 7, 2018. This Forestry Unit consists of dedicated Georgia Forestry Commission professionals Ranger Jonathan Butts, Ranger Geoffery Dean, Ranger Kolby Lynch, and Ranger Tyler Mameli serving under the leadership of Chief Ranger Jeff Kenerly.
House Resolution 931 was presented by Representatives Smith of the 70th, Caldwell of the 131st, Burnough of the 77th, Mathiak of the 73rd, Knight of the 130th, and others.
The Unit was commended for its work in the areas of "wildlife prevention and suppression, reforestation and seed collection, community outreach and education, and assisting in extreme weather incidents both out of county and out of district." House Resolution 931 states that the accomplishment of this Forestry Unit "are a clear indication of the dedication and team work of the individuals at the unit, their willingness to assist in recovery efforts when most needed, and the pride they possess in their job."
