Local Resident Performs Christmas Reading at the Little White House

WARM SPRINGS - These are pictures from the Christmas program held on December 18, 2021 at the The Little White House. Pike County historical reenactor James Fowler has been living out history as Franklin Delano Roosevelt for many years.

FDR had a tradition of reading from Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" to his children and grandchildren. "We chose the poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Moore," he said.

Why Clement Moore? He was a pastor from New York. Much later, his great-grandson, William S. Moore, had a child with polio. He also was from New York and later built a cottage on the grounds of what later became the Roosevelt Institute for Rehabilitation.

So, in essence, history became part of the history that was presented to audiences just this month as visitors heard "FDR" read a Christmas poem aloud.
