BREAKING NEWS: False Call to Sheriff's Office Through Skype

MEANSVILLE - At approximately 6:40 last night, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in which an individual reported shooting their father at 1880 Cook Road. The caller stated that they were armed and would kill any law enforcement that came to the residence.

After attempting to make contact with anyone inside the residence, the SWAT team and K-9 unit made entry into the residence and found no one inside. During this time, Mid Georgia Ambulance had called for a life flight helicopter that had landed at Lifesprings Church and was on standby in case they were needed. The Pike County Sheriff's Office determined that this was a false report made by the caller.

An investigation is now underway to find out who made the initial 911 call. The call has been determined to have come through an internet Skype phone number. “We are going to do everything we can to identify and locate this individual,” said Major David Neal of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.

If you have any details about this case, please call investigators at the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at 770-567-8431. Callers can give anonymous information to investigators as well.
