Runoff Election Results Are In

ZEBULON - These are the unofficial results from the Secretary of State’s Office as of 11 p.m.

15.87% of the registered voters in Pike County cared enough to cast their votes in this election. That is 1,535 registered voters out of 9,671. If you didn't care or didn't make the time to vote this go around, please make it a priority in November. It matters. We'll see how much it matters in the next four years as our candidates go into office.

In the U.S. Representative, District 3 race, Mike Crane received 46.07% of the votes (19,490) and Drew Ferguson 53.93% of the votes (22,813). Drew Ferguson is the winner in this race. He will face Angela Pendley on the Democratic ticket in November.

In the District Attorney’s Race, Ben Coker received 57.03% of the total votes (10,157) and Rudjard Hayes received 42.97% of the votes (42.97%). Ben Coker is the winner in this race. Ben Coker will take office in January.

A couple of other races that were watched in our area include the Sheriff's race in Spalding and the State Representative, District 73 seat.

In the State Representative, District 73 seat, Karen Mathiak received 56.13% of the vote (1,337 votes) and Incumbent John Yates received 43.87% of the vote (1,045 votes). Karen Mathiak is the winner in this race. There will be a vote in November to determine who goes into the District 73 seat in January.

In the Sheriff's race for the Republican slot on the November ticket, Incumbent Wendell Beam received 46.74% of the vote (2,523 votes) and Darrell Dix received 53.26% of the vote (2,875 votes). Darrell Dix is the winner in this race. There will be a vote in November to determine the new Sheriff in Spalding County.
