Domestic Incident Ends in Arrest

MOLENA - On Wednesday, May 8, 2024 about 6:14 p.m. Deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office responded to domestic situation on River Road that included a report of a person reportedly being shot. When deputies arrived, the individual who had been reported to have been shot had left the scene.

The elderly resident stated that he and his grandson, 27 year old Nathaniel Johnson, had been in a physical altercation. During the altercation, the grandfather, Peter Pryor, had received visible injuries at which time he discharged a firearm reportedly striking Johnson in the leg.

When asked if alcohol or drugs were a part of this incident, Pike County Times was advised by Major David Neal that it is suspected that Johnson was under the influence of alcohol and/or illicit substances at the time of the incident.

Johnson was located at a residence in Spalding County where he was apprehended by Spalding County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office where he was arrested and charged with battery and elder abuse. Johnson had received a superficial wound from the gunshot to his leg.
