Georgia Preparatory Academy to Hold Title I-A Parent Workshops

DECATUR - The Georgia Preparatory Academy at the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) will hold Title I-A district-wide workshops this month to inform DJJ parents how to help prepare their high school students to succeed with Common Core and Georgia Milestones Assessments.

The Georgia Milestones Assessment is a comprehensive summative assessment program for measuring how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in language arts, math, science, and social studies. High school students will take an end-of-course (EOC) assessment for each of the eight courses designated by the State Board of Education.

These district-wide workshops are designed to empower parents to provide students with the support needed to succeed in passing the EOC and to graduate from high school. For more information contact the Title I-A Office of the Department of Juvenile Justice at 404-508-6590.

All parents of students attending classes in the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice School System are invited to attend. The March Title I-A workshop schedule is as follows:

Rome Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC): Wednesday, March 25 at 6:00pm
Albany Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC): Saturday, March 28 at 9:30am
Macon Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC): Saturday, March 28 at 6:00pm
