James Stewart Chapter Inducts Two New Members

FRANKLIN - The James Stewart Chapter welcomed two new members on Saturday, October 10, 2015. Shannon Brown McCrary (Molena, GA) and Rossell Adams Beckett (Canton, GA) were welcomed into the DAR and the James Stewart Chapter. Shannon proved her ancestry through John Hearn who lived in Brunswick Co, Virginia. He served as a Home Guard Soldier for the State of Virginia in 1782. Rossell proved her ancestry through Samuel Gladney who lived in Camden District, South Carolina. He served as a Private Soldier under Captain Edward Martin and Colonel Richard Winn and is also credited with furnishing supplies to the troops.

Regent Carla Brown administered the membership oath and presented each with a DAR pin that can be worn proudly at all times. Registrar Bonnie Baker presented each new member a chapter yearbook, new member packet, and a copy of their approved application. The new members were welcomed by the JSC daughters and new inducted member Shannon Brown presented a program on “Scripture Doodling” to the chapter.

The James Stewart is so pleased to have these new members and encourages anyone who wishes to know more about the DAR to contact us. DAR members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share a common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join. Let us help get you started on your search. For more information visit jamesstewartchapterdar.org or dar.org.
