From Animal Control Officer Tanya Perkins: Impound Alert

ZEBULON - On July 16, 2019 I impounded this adult intact male Pit Bull, who weighs about 50 pounds. He had no identification tag, no microchip, and therefore no documented owner at the time of the impoundment. The dog was involved in an incident on April 22, 2019 where he killed a family pet, and was never located.

On July 15, 2019 he bit a small child. The dog is now currently undergoing a 10 day minimum quarantine due to lack of rabies inoculation documentation.

I have also determined that the dog is a dangerous dog per Section 91.04 (H) DANGEROUS DOG A.) Causes a substantial puncture of a person’s skin by teeth, C.) While off the owners’ property, kills a pet animal. Per section 91.08(A) (3) of the Animal Control Ordinance, "dangerous and vicious dog” candidates with no documented owner shall NOT be provided a hearing and the original determination by me shall remain effective.

Dogs with no documented owner that are determined to be dangerous or vicious shall be ordered to be euthanized by an authorized representative after a 10-day quarantine at the Impoundment Facility for rabies observation. If an owner is successfully documented during the quarantine period, then the processes provided in the Animal Control Ordinance for dangerous dogs shall be followed.

If you are the owner of this impoundment dog, PLEASE contact Tanya Perkins the Pike County Animal Control Officer before July 25, 2019 to avoid Euthanization of the subject animal. My phone number is 678-603-7285.
