ZEBULON - The Pike County Middle School began practice a couple of weeks ago for its first ever season. The has been working hard to improve their mileage in hopes of capturing a league title in October.
The team is scheduled to compete in several meets beginning with the CCA Invitational in Hollonville on August 27th. The season will conclude with the State Championships in Cochran and the South Georgia/North Florida Championships in Thomasville.
The runners were challenged to run as many miles as they could during June and July in preparation for the first practice on August 2nd. Leading the way for the girls were Victoria Roark and Harley Clay each running 87 miles. Garrett Child was the boys top runner with an even 100 miles.
The team will host a home meet against Henderson Middle School on September 7th at the Pike County Recreation sports complex.
