More Photos Are Below the Article

CONCORD - The Lighting of Concord was held on Friday, December 1, 2017. “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” was the theme this year, and many came dressed as their favorite Whoville characters. Festivities began at 5:30 pm. Santa arrived at 6:30 pm.

Dinner was available along Main Street from DePaul's Catering, The Irish Pancake and the Pike County High School Band Booster Club. Satisfy your sweet tooth with homemade desserts and candies located inside the Strickland Building at our Christmas Bazaar where you may find the perfect gift for that special someone.

Children enjoyed pony rides, the whole family enjoyed hay rides, and may finished off the evening with a cup of hot cocoa and some boiled peanuts as they listened to local musicians and the reading of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

Santa arrived at the Concord Airport via helicopter at 6:30 pm to visit with children in the Strickland Building. Santa's photographer was onsite to capture that special moment with each child.

In order to be courteous to all Santa's visitors and to keep the line flowing, pictures with Santa will be limited to the professional photographers options of 1) a 4x6 for $7, 2) a digital photo (email) for $10 or 3) a maximum of 2 photos taken with your device for a $5 donation to the city to support future Lighting of Concord events. Registration will be at the information booth in the center of the festivities.

If you missed out on this year's festivities, mark your calendar for the first Friday in December for next year!
