Ambulance Service Achieves Accreditation, Receiving Perfect Score

MACON - On August 12, 2012, Community Ambulance, (then known as Mid Georgia Ambulance, or MGA), received national accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS). The Commission, a non-profit organization, requires services seeking accreditation to not only pass the rigorous review process, but also uphold the required standards for re-review every three years.

On August 31, 2015, Community Ambulance received excellent feedback from the organization’s review process and was granted three year accreditation by the Commission. The ambulance service not only met the requirements to maintain accreditation, but exceeded the standards, receiving a perfect score. To date, Community Ambulance is one of only five CAAS Accredited ambulance services in the state of Georgia.

The CAAS re-accreditation process included completion of a comprehensive application and on-site review by national experts in emergency medical services (EMS).

The primary focus of the Commission’s standards is high-quality patient care. This is accomplished by establishing national standards which not only address the delivery of patient care, but also the ambulance service’s total operation and its relationships with other agencies, the general public and the medical community.

The Commission’s standards often exceed state or local licensing requirements. Community Ambulance’s completion of this re-accreditation represents a firm commitment to not only patients of Community Ambulance, but also to each community the organization serves.

A trusted EMS provider in Georgia for almost four decades, Community Ambulance employs over 330 EMS professionals in ten counties across the state. For more information about Community Ambulance, or about CAAS Accreditation, please contact Aabel-kiker@OurCommunityAmbulance.org.
