Lamar County Opens a Collection Site for Tornado Victims

BARNESVILLE - Barnesville Church of the Nazarene will be a collection site for those affected by the recent tornadoes that swept through our surrounding areas starting Wednesday, January 18th. Penny Hutson is working in coordination with the Distribution Center in Griffin as a drop-off point that will distribute items to those in need since that is the main donation center tornado victims.

PLEASE NOTE: This is only a collection site, and we will NOT be distributing items.

HOURS TO DROP OFF DONATIONS
Monday – Thursday 9 am – 1 pm and 4 pm – 6 pm
Sunday 3 pm – 5 pm

***Please drop off items ONLY during these days and times. Do not leave anything outside of the church or on the steps of the Family Life Center.

***If you want to volunteer to help with the donation process, PLEASE contact Penny Hutson to get on the list by date and time.

***The Griffin-Spalding Chamber is coordinating hot meals for first responders. Call or text 770-597-7916 for more information or if you would like to help, they are in current need of snack foods and quick meals.

ITEMS TO DONATE (All items must be NEW)
- Non-perishable food items
- Diapers – all sizes, baby wipes, formula, baby food
- New Toiletries – such as: toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, brush/combs, razors/shaving cream, body lotion, chapstick, Q-tips, toilet paper, etc.
- Bath Towels, Wash Cloths
- Hand sanitizer
- Gift Cards – fuel, restaurants
- First Aid Kits
- Flashlights
- Batteries – all kinds
- Paper Towels
- Bottled water
- Paper Plates – Plastic Utensils
- Trash bags
- Laundry detergent
- Pet food
- Boxes
- Blankets - If you have good clean blankets to donate, we will take them. Please bag them. They will go to the Salvation Army center for distribution.
- NO CLOTHING

This will be an ongoing collection site so those in charge of the site are not sure how long it will be needed.

[Note from the Church: Thank you in advance to Penny for heading up this endeavor and letting us help by donating a place to store items! The Family Life Center was a Distribution Center is 2011 when a tornado came through Barnesville, and to be able to pass that love on to others in 2023 is priceless gift!]
