ZEBULON - On Saturday morning, October 27th the Pike County Historical Society will be offering a mother-daughter community class titled “Colonial Life”. The enjoyable discussion and hands-on presentation about Colonial life in America will be presented by Ms. Karen Griffin. The class will also include a do-it-yourself learning project in which each mother-daughter pair will create a Colonial-era toy to take home.
Karen Griffin grew up in Albany, Georgia and is a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists. DAC members are descendants of a man or woman who rendered patriotic or civil service to the American colonies prior to July 4, 1776, and members strive to educate others about Colonial history in the United States.
There is a $5.00 charge per adult (age 18 and older) for the class, payable at the door. The class starts at 10 a.m. and ends at noon and will be held at the Zebulon Opportunity Center on Highway 19 south across from the Dairy Queen in Zebulon. The Pike County Historical Society is located in the wing to the right of City Hall.
Attendees do not have to be members of the historical society. Materials will be provided. Refreshments will be a part of the session. Due to available space, seating for the class is limited to a total of 20 attendees. E-mail LesRat512@gmail.com to reserve a seat.
