Upson County Vehicle Chase Ends in Pike County

ZEBULON - Around 2:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, a chase that began in Upson County ended in Pike County on Highway 18 at mile marker 18. The chase only lasted about 15 minutes and ended with the driver being booked into Pike County and then transported to Upson County.

Cpl. McClung advised by phone today that Yolanda Young, 43 years of age of Milledgeville, was observed driving at a speed of over 100 mph in Upson County. She drove from Thomaston to Zebulon with law enforcement in pursuit. She drove around a set of spike strips put into the road to stop her car in Pike County and turned to go east on Hwy 18 at the Courthouse.

Georgia State Patrol TFC3 Mike Knight pitted the vehicle into a ditch to stop her speeding along the roadway, and Pike County Deputy Charles Hall blocked her in with his patrol car after the pit maneuver. The suspect attempted to drive out of the ditch and struck the Pike County patrol car in the left side causing some damage to the patrol car. However, the suspect was arrested, and there were no injuries.

Yolanda Young was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, aggressive driving, and speeding.
