Plane Crash in Williamson Claims Two Lives
By Editor Becky Watts

WILLIAMSON - Around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, emergency responders were called to Peach State Aerodrome in Williamson to respond to an airplane crash that claimed the lives of two people aboard a 1939 Jenny.

WKEU News has reported that witnesses stated that the aircraft “appeared to be on fire right before impact” and that the plane was being flown by Peach State Aerodrome/Candler Field Museum/Barnstormer’s Grill owner Ron Alexander. Pike County Times has not received official confirmation of the name of the passenger in the plane.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office and Pike County Fire Department responded to the scene and will be handing the scene over to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The NTSB is an independent Federal agency that investigates aviation accidents to determine the probable cause of the accident.

Pike County Times will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
